CHAD

David & Janice

David and Janice are missionary partners of LBIM, called and supported by the Chinese Lutheran Brethren Church of Taiwan. Currently in the capital, they are learning Chadian Arabic and adapting to the local culture and climate. Part of their orientation will also take place in a village alongside our other partner missionaries from the CLBC Taiwan. They have been serving with LBIM since 2023.

David & Sonja

David and Sonja serve as missionaries among the Fulbe people of Chad. They are sharing the Word of God and the love of Christ through relational and medical ministry. They have been serving with LBIM since 2016.

Jeremy & Sallee

Jeremy and Sallee serve as administrators of the Lutheran Welcome Center, a guest house and conference facility designed to provide a place of rest, renewal and gathering for missionaries in Chad. They have been serving with LBIM since 2015.

Matthias & Ellie

Matthias and Ellie moved to France in September 2023. They are living in Albertville where Ellie is attending French language school in preparation for ministry in Chad, and Matthias is completing a research master's degree in theology at a different school in southern France. They both plan to wrap up their studies in July and move to Chad soon after. Once in Chad, they will begin learning Chadian Arabic and discerning a final ministry site with LBIM.

Nathanael & Carrie

Nathanael and Carrie serve as missionaries among the Bagirmi people of Chad. They are relationally sharing the gospel through Bible translation, school ministry, and agricultural development. They have been serving with LBIM since 2012.

Paul & Teresa

Paul and Teresa serve in a missionary training ministry where they partner with Chadian missionary candidates, preparing these families to work alongside LBIM missionaries among unreached Muslim people groups in Chad. They have been serving with LBIM since 1997.

Daniel & Nancy

Daniel and Nancy are partner missionaries, called and sent to the LBIM field in Chad by the Chinese Lutheran Brethren Church of Taiwan. They are living and ministering among the Bilala people group of Chad, sharing their lives and the gospel through their relationships with their neighbors. They have been serving with LBIM since 2021.

JAPAN

Dean & Linda

Dean and Linda live in Ishinomaki, a seaport town in Northern Japan, where much destruction occurred in the “Great Tohoku Earthquake/Tsunami.” House of Hope opened in 2015 as a Christian community center. A Japanese pastor has joined their team as a full-time outreach pastor in April 2022. With that, they are excited to become an official neighborhood church this year! Dean and Linda have been serving with LBIM since 1989.

Paul & Alexa

Paul and Alexa were commissioned in June of 2023 as LBIM’s newest missionaries to Japan. They will be deploying to Japan in August, and will initially focus their energies on learning the Japanese language and integrating into their new cultural context. They are preparing for a ministry alongside an existing national Lutheran Brethren Church that will focus on community outreach and evangelism in the city of Sendai.

TAIWAN

Ethan & Sandy

Ethan and Sandy live in Hsinchu and are serving the mission through multiple ministries including missiological research, teaching at a local seminary, and relationally sharing the gospel with their neighbors through daily interaction, hiking, camping, English teaching, and Bible studies. They have been serving with LBIM since 1990.

Ben & Sara

Ben and Sara live in Taichung City, where they are partnering with Taichung Victory Church in a focused outreach ministry to the community and among the college students at the local Feng Chia university. They have been serving with LBIM since 2018.
